About the Glass

This glass object was designed and handcrafted by Alan Iwamura in the Toledo Museum of Art Glass Pavilion®. The artist decided to produce the traditional conical top of the martini glass which has long been the iconic symbol for the drink itself. After researching the way in which martini glasses function, he moved away from the traditional “thin stem” and replaced it with a historic design that is both elegant and comfortable to hold. The color application provides a subtle transition from light to dark with the stem of the glass being the most saturated element of the piece.

The pitchers were made after evaluating both traditional dimensions and visual weight. A similar transition in color is present and a single clear ring serves as both an aesthetic and functional element while complimenting the clear connection between the stem and cup of the martini glasses. Each pitcher is also accompanied by a sleek stirring rod.

Each piece is made in the traditional off-hand glassblowing method making them both unique and one-of-a-kind.

Please note, price is for one martini glass only.
