Tom McGlauchlin is a world-renowned glass artist whose work has been exhibited and collected around the world. His work is in the collection of such museums as the Corning Museum of Glass, NY; the Kunstmuseum, Dusseldorf, Germany; the Minnesota Museum of Art; Museum of Arts and Design, NY; New Orleans Museum of Art, LA; Portland Art Museum, OR; The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, Japan; The Smithsonian Collection, Washington, D.C.; the Toledo Museum of Art, OH; among others.
In September 2005, McGlauchlin began working in fused glass. Through this and other series, he explored color and the infinite variety of abstract design found in the human face, occasionally saying something about the human condition.
McGlauchlin was actively involved in glass as an artist and teacher from 1962 when he took part in the first glass blowing workshop at the Toledo Museum of Art until his death on April 4, 2011.
